.TEL is a top level domain that functions and behaves like any other top level domain (.com, .net, .org etc) but also offers a free optional hosting service trough the registrar, Telnic.
In the past, .TEL was always tied to the hosting service that Telnic offered, but as of March 13, 2017 this is no longer the case. Customers now have the option to use .tel like an ordinary domain but still have option to take advantage of the free hosting service. The hosting service allows you to build a digital profile page using a pre-existing template. An example of what this looks like can be found on http://telpage.tel/
If you registered a .tel domain and would like to take advantage of this service, simply head over to www.do.tel and create an account. Once logged in, head over to the "manage your .tel page" and follow the instructions.
